While designing this pattern I was looking to create a top to be worn during Spring and Summer, but if you pair it with a nice jacket you could enjoy it year-round.

Basic Knit Top Pattern Specifics:

Skill level: Easy

Gauge: 17 st by 32 rows in garter stitch = 4” (10cm)

Stitches used and abbreviations:

CO = Cast On

K = Knit

BO = Bind off

St = Stitch(es)

Size: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X

Finished bust size: 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64)” / 81 (91.5, 101.5, 111.5, 122, 132, 142, 142, 162)

To fit bust size: 30 (34, 38, 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 62)” / 76 (86, 96.5, 106.5, 117, 127, 137, 147, 158)

Designed to be worn with a minimum of 2”/5 cm of ease or more.

Yarn: LB Collection Cotton Bamboo (52% cotton, 48% Rayon from bamboo) 245 yards/224 meters – 3.5 oz/100 gr #3 Light Weight – Color #098 Magnolia
3 (3, 4,4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 6) balls

Yardage: 621 (690, 781, 803, 967, 1108, 1252, 1280, 1372) yards/ 568 (630, 715, 735, 885, 1013, 1145, 1170, 1255) meters

 

Needle: Knitting needles # 6 (4.0 mm) (24” or longer are best to accommodate large amount of stitches)

Other Materials: Yarn needle (to sew edges and weave in ends)

FRONT/BACK:

CO 68 (76, 86, 94, 102, 110, 120, 128, 136) sts.

Rows 1 to 96: Knit.

 

Armhole Shaping

Row 97: BO 9 sts. Knit to end. (59, 67, 77, 85, 93, 101, 111, 119, 129 sts)

Row 98: BO 9 sts. Knit to end. (50, 58, 68, 76, 84, 92, 102, 110, 118 sts)

Row 99: Knit.

Repeat row 99: 49 (53, 57, 61, 65, 69, 73, 77, 81) more times.

 

Shoulder Shaping

Row 1: BO 4 (8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36) Knit to end. (46, 50, 56, 60, 64, 68, 74, 78, 82 sts.)

Row 2: BO 4 (8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36) Knit to end. (42, 42, 44, 44, 44, 44, 46, 46, 46 sts)

Row 3: Knit.

Repeat row 3: 37 more times.

BO.

FINISHING

  • Repeat instructions from beginning to end and make a 2nd piece.
  • Block both pieces to measurements.
  • Sew neck-side and shoulders, then sew side edges. Leaving neck and armhole openings.
